POKEY

Age: 36

Race discipline and Category: XC, SUPER-D, DOWNHILL, 100 MILE EPICS. Beg/sport

Years racing: 3

Bike of choice: NORCO

Mountain bike and race history: I really enjoy anything fast and dangerous. Which is why I got into skiing and Mountain Biking (MTB)early in life. I competed in my first XC/DH race when I was about 17 at White Pass Wa. I got 2nd in the DH and 3rd in the XC. I took about 15 years off from life in general and presued my dreams of being a hopeless dopefeind. I made my comeback in 2000 and was ready to race in 2008 with alot of support and encouragment from my close friends and the FOCF (friendsofcapitolforest.org).I have not seen the podium since but still dig racing and suffering with the best of them. Always putting myself up against riders I know are better than me.

Race Goals: My goals when racing are to see new places, network with fellow riders and trail builders, get faster and have FUN. This year I will be riding both ends of the MTB spectrum. On my Single Speed I will be cranking it out at any local XC race and then putting down some Epic 100 milers and hopefully finishing. In between I want to put in some sketchy fast Super-D and Downhill runs. I will not be the fastest rider in any discipline but would consider myself a solid rider on any trail. So if you want to rip it in Capitol Forest come on down and get it!

Ride on, POKEY

Bike(s) of Choice: Norco Fluid LT for Super D's and Norco Nitro for XC

Mountian Bike History: Four years ago my Dad and I ventured out into Capitol Forest looking for new trails to ride. After stumbling around moto trails for our first few rides we met up with FOCF and discovered Gl6. I have been hooked ever since, and have been riding and exploring the many trails of Capitol ever since

Race History/Goals: Last year was my first full season of XC racing, and I had a blast. I finished 2nd in Budu and 3rd in Indie Series, and am looking forward to a packed schedule of XC along with some Super D's, downhill, and hopefully my first 24 hour race

Favorite Ride/Riding Area/Trail: Darn near every trail in Capitol Forest and the Sick Puke 2008

Favorite Race Course: North Seatac, Fort Ebey, and the Capitol Forest Classic XC and Super D course

Age: 33

Race discipline and Category: XC-Sport

Years racing: 1

Bike of choice: Gary Fisher 29er- Until I decide what my next bike will be.

Mountain bike history: I started mountain biking 5 years ago when I moved to SW Colorado. After three wonderful years of high desert single track and stunning climbs in the Rockies I decided I needed to try something different. The wet, sloppy trails of the Pacific NW were calling. Moved to Oly 2 years ago and I haven't looked back.

Racing History: Started racing last year just to see if I would like it. I did.

Favorite riding area: CF- trail #8, Cortez, CO- Phil's world

Favorite race course: Ft. Ebey State Park, Whidbey Island-Budu Series.

Age: 29

Race Discipline and Category: XC and SD: Sport

Years racing: 2

Bike(s) of choice: Norco Fluid 1

Mountain bike history: I discovered the thrill of mountain biking when I moved to the Olympia area five years ago. A friend told me that Capitol Forest had primo mountain biking, so, being new in town with nothing better to do, I picked up a $200 steel frame rigid bike and hit the trails. At first I rode only on the nicest, warmest, sunniest days of summer, but with each ride the MTB beast sunk its claws in further until I found myself riding in tire-clogging mud on 40 degree February days and eagerly awaiting the chance to do it again.

Race history/goals: I signed up for an FOCF XC race in 2008 and was hooked on racing ever since! After a few podium finishes in the Beginner category last year, I moved up to Sport for this season. Along with improving my XC racing this season, I also want to build my gravity skills and confidence. I would not be the rider I am today without the support and encouragement of the amazing FOCF crew. Thanks guys!! I'm looking forward to my third season of rocking the knobbies!!

Favorite ride/riding area/trail: Jackson's Loop in Capitol Forest, Devil's Gulch

Favorite race course: Capitol Forest Classic, both XC and SD
